A little behind...
Birthday Boy
Happy Birthday Katie...
| Make a slideshow |
Saturday we celebrated Katie's 29th birthday by going to dinner at Maggiano's, then heading back to the Jones house for cake, ice cream, and presents. Dinner was so good! Greg got the Rigatoni D and I ordered the Lobster Fettucine...so yummy =) Katie's birthday cake was FANTASTIC! I usually am not a fan of fruit fillings in cake, but this was sooo good! Katie got a lot of great gifts like new stationary, CD's and an itunes card, a new book and lapdesk, new silver earrings, and best of all...My Little Pony Stickers from Katie Anne. She said she picked them out for her so that they could share...so cute! Before the cake was cut, Cindy decorated the table with beach themed trinkets, so we all had a fun time playing with our toys and wearing our shades =) It was a great time and I hope Katie had a wonderful birthday!!

Happy Father's Day Pal!
This weekend we traveled to NC to visit my family for Father's Day. We got in late/early however you want to look at it...Friday night/ Sat. morning. Saturday my extended family got together at my parent's house for a cookout. It was so much fun catching up and watching the kids play together! Lunch was fantastic! Andy grilled some amazing burgers and we had pasta salads, slaw, yummy dips, a FANTASTIC banana pudding that Kari made, and delicious blonde brownies with a caramel sauce made my my cousin Haley. After everyone left/went down for naps, we went out back to play cornhole (thanks to Thomas for letting us borrow the game). Let's just say that you don't want to play with this Glawson duo any time soon...we were pretty awesome. We had a fun evening with everyone and I loved so much spending time with Eva and James. I just could not get over how much they had changed just since Easter!! Sunday morning we woke up and gave my dad his Father's Day gifts and then hit the road around 10. It was a wonderful weekend, just a very short one! But it was worth the drive to celebrate Father's Day with my incredible dad...I love you Pal =)

Braves Game...
Wednesday I went with Angie and the girls to an afternoon Braves game with Angie's work. It was a lot of fun, but it was so hot and humid! With two little ones, we didn't follow the game too closely, but we did enjoy chasing them around and talking! Angie and Justin just got back from Germany, so I really enjoyed hearing about their trip and just catching up! The girls were fantastic, but they were very tired when we left and fell right to sleep
Memorial Day...

On Monday we celebrated Memorial Day with the Glawson/Jones families with a fantastic meal and a lot of cornhole playing (get your mind out of the gutter...it's a fun game lol). Cindy made a variety of Weight Watchers recipes and they were all so good! We had great time just chatting and goofing off with everyone! It was a fun day and a great way to celebrate Memorial Day!
My two cents...
I'm not a parent. And for those of you who are parents and read this, I know I am not a parent, this is just my opinion and I highly doubt it will change when I do have children but who knows.
Today at the park this little boy was being very mean to Karis and it was making me so angry. What was making me even more upset was that his mom could absolutely care less. The first instance where he was mean was when he was playing in this toy car and Karis went to try and play with him and got on the back of the car, the boy turned around and yelled, "Hey! Get off! I do NOT want to play with you!" Kids will be kids. Karis just looked at me with a hurt face, and I told her that it was ok, there were plenty of kids who did want to play with her so we moved away from the situation. The second encounter with this boy was while Karis was swinging. She fell from the swing, and he came running over and while she was getting back on it, he pushed her out of the way and said it was his swing and she needed to move. I had been watching this kid since the first incident and this seemed to be his typical behavior. But it just blows my mind that his mother was watching this and letting him act this way. DISCIPLINE YOUR CHILD! Or at least teach them manners! My goodness, it's watching kids like this on the playground that make me cringe to think about having in my future classroom. Karis was her typical sweet self and simply moved out of the way and asked if she could have a turn next. Well, I bent down to her, which just so happened to be right next to him and within earshot of his mother and said, "You know what, it is so nice of you to let him have a turn on the swing. You really know what it means to be nice and I am really proud of your manners. You set such a good example for other kids!" And we walked off to go slide. I know that there are SO many things that I will eat my words on the 1,000's of "I will never as a parent... or My child will never..." but my child will not be a jerk. Period. Why? Because they will be taught how to treat others and what is acceptable behavior and what is not. Do kids act out at times? Sure! Are preschooler's going to say mean things to other kids at times? You can probably count on it! But you better believe that I will make sure that behavior does not repeat itself on a regular basis! Anyway...just a little rant from today's outings...sorry to be so lengthy!
