WOOHOOO...

Day 30

A little badge of honor from Katie

NaBloPoMo is finally OVER! Don't get me wrong, a little competition is always fun and I am always up for the challenge! However, it was tough considering I don't have any kids besides the ones I nanny for, and it'd be kind of creepy to take tons of pics and post of them every day haha! I will still continue to blog often, but with finals this week...not TOO often! But with all the holidays and family events around the corner, I'll have plenty of blogging material! I hope you've enjoyed reading all the NaBloPoMo posts! Now I'm off to write more essays...booo!!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

Day 29

We put our Christmas tree up today! It's our very first one together =) We spent the afternoon putting a few decorations out, watching football, putting away summer clothes and organizing the closet, cleaning, and then finished up the day at Johnny's Pizza with Cindy, Thomas, and Katie Anne. So now I am ready to take a hot shower, climb into bed, and read the rest of my book (500 down, 247 to go)! Reading the last book of the Twilight saga makes me sad. I always hate to end a series. Especially when they are SOOOO good! Tomorrow we have another busy day with church, putting out more decorations, and writing tons of essays for my final! I have 3 finals this week BOOO! But fortunately, that means this semester is OVER!!!! Which is all I've been waiting for! Tomorrow is also the LAST day of NaBloPoMo...thank goodness! I'm running out of things to take pictures of! But, in true Jillian and Katie form, we barreled on and we posted EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! I wonder what our next little competition will be? We missed out on "No Shave November" where apparently you aren't supposed to shave for the entire month...we were both fairly disappointed about that one =) Well, we'll think of something! Until then, NaBloPoMo it is!

We still need the tree skirt and the presents...anyone up for wrapping?

Too tired...

Day 27

I am still tired from shopping so early this morning...BUT I got tons of great deals so it was worth it =) I'm off to read my book now...200 pages down, 650+ to go...don't worry, I'm just getting started!

Turkey Day Take 3...

Day 26

Our first Thanksgiving (on the real day) as an old married couple =)

Well, Thanksgiving has come to an end...besides me and Greg's new tradition of Homemade Spaghetti Night on Thanksgiving night! We had a great time today at the extended family Thanksgiving! It was fun seeing everyone and we ate WAAAAY too much food but it was well worth it! I feel like after week three of Thanksgiving, I've probably gained approximately 20 lbs. But who starts a diet during the holidays? When we got home I decided I would lay down for a little bit and then Greg came to wake me up 3 HOURS LATER!!! I guess I was tired after all the festivities! Here are some pictures from today...I'll put more of everyone on my facebook page, this is just our family because I had too many for here! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and I am thankful for all of my wonderful friends and family =)

They got a little extra for Thanksgiving =)

After a while...

Day 24

Finals get to you! I am done with one more class THANK GOODNESS!!!! I only have to go in for a mock parent teacher conference on Monday, but other than that I am one more class down! The other night while I was writing my last lesson plan, this is where Jack slept...Chance was squeezed between my other leg and the arm of the couch!

Tonight I took dinner to the Joneses to help out with Katie being sick. I had a ton of fun with Katie Anne and getting to play with her and read to her. She's at such a fun age that Greg and I just love! he got there a little later to help with bath time and bed time. She was so cute showing off all of her tricks (new words, hot dance moves...etc)! I hope we get to spend some more time with her soon...like next week perhaps =)

Turkey Day Take 2...

Day 23

This weekend we traveled to Burlington to visit with my family for the Hatley Thanksgiving. I hardly ever get to see Eva so it was GREAT seeing her and how big she's gotten! She's getting to such a fun stage =) Of course, it was nice to see everyone and to eat a yummy meal prepared by Mammie (with some help from Greg and Andy...sweet potato graters)! We had so much fun just talking and goofing around (true Hatley tradition) and sitting around after dinner and enjoying a nice fire on such a cold day! As you saw in the park pictures, we decided to take the puppies with us so everyone could meet Chance. They rode SO well in the car...they slept the ENTIRE way! Gotta love the schnauzer breed =) On Sunday we woke up and enjoyed some pie for breakfast! Then we packed up and headed home! It was a VERY short weekend, but luckily we'll be spending more time in NC for Christmas which will be here before we know it! Here are some pics of our fun time =)

This is how they rode...most of the way!

Pictures in the park...

Day 22

Well, we are home! We had a GREAT time seeing the family in NC, especially our niece! She's getting SO big and fun!! Yesterday we asked my dad to come to the park with us and take some pics of us newlyweds and our puppies! It was FREEEEZING so we weren't out there long, just enough to get a few good choices to choose from for Christmas cards (to be included with a wedding pic of course)! I have lots of pics of our Thanksgiving but that'll give me a lot to blog about tomorrow...I have to go work on a final now that is due tomorrow! But I hope you like the pics of our new family =)

I did it...

I'm blogging from greg's iPhone so I don't want to write a lot! I have a lot to post tomorrow!

Off to Grandmother's house we go...

Day 20

Thanksgiving numero dos is here! I love it because we have the SAME exact menu every year, and THIS year I have my hubby to share it with me (although, he did last year as well)! I hope I get to blog tomorrow to at least say what a good time we're having! We may be going to take some pictures in the park with the puppies so that will be fun, hopefully it won't be too cold! Anyhoo... I have to go finish packing for everyone =)

Thursday, November 20, 2008

So, this sucks...

Day 19

Ok, so I am in class right now with the WORST professor EVER! He has not been to HALF of our classes! Seriously, we have had around 33 classes so far...he has made it to 12!!! Is that not crap?! AND we have a final with FOUR five paragraph essays..ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is ridiculous! But anyway...I'll be glad to have this over with! Twilight comes out tonight..I'm too much of an old woman to go see the midnight show...but at least we considered it =) But I WILL see it! I've been counting down the days since this summer! I just ordered the last book of the series so I can read it on winter break and I can't wait! Tomorrow we leave for Burlington for the Hatley thanksgiving! I can't wait to see Eva! She's getting so big and starting to learn how to walk!! We're taking the puppies with us so that should be fun =) I am going to write a post for Saturday and save it and try to post on Sunday..my grandmother's internet connection is RIDICULOUS...AOL 7.0...no joke. But NaBloPoMo must go on! Well, class is almost over, time to write our professor evaluations...this will be fun=)

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

When will it end...

Day 18

In case you haven't heard...I am SOOO ready for school to be over with. For some reason I feel like SOMETHING is ALWAYS due and I am ALWAYS rushing to do it! And next semester will just be worse with TWO more classes! BOOO! I don't have a lot to blog about tonight. I just got back from a Pampered Chef party which was fun! I got the food chopper...it looked fun =) I got a lot of pampered chef items from Andy and Kari and my parents so it was nice to see it all in use and what I can do with it! I have a terrible headache and cannot wait to go to bed with my three boys! We're SO glad that Chance has slept through the night the past two nights...keep your fingers crossed for night 3 =)

Rub-a-dub-dub...

Day 17

PUPPY IN THE TUB!!!

Greg gave Chance his first bath the other day (note: I do not do dog baths, nor cleaning out of the eyes, nor dog vomit...I do pictures and kisses and cuddling). It's so convenient that he is tiny enough for the sink! He's doing SO well and we are loving him! He and Jack are getting along fantastically (now) and play together alllll the time! Jack is beginning to get rather protective of his new little brother though and thinks he should check on him (which of course wakes him up) throughout the night. But it's just out of concern =) These are our two babies and I hate to imagine what it will be like when we really have babies because we are already such saps over these two (especially Greg)! But anyhoo, we're about to head to bed...we just got back from seeing a play at school, it was surprisingly very good! One of the top plays I've seen...which says a lot! I had to go for credit in my art class. We had a good time but are now tired after a long day! See ya tomorrow!

Turkey Day ...

Day 16

I promised today would be a tell-all of the Glawson Thanksgiving...I didn't say it would be an exciting picture filled one...I will add some tomorrow (it's too cold to go get my camera...and I am lazy). We had a great time eating LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of food! Cindy made a TONS of delicious dishes my favorites were the cajun turkey (MMmm) and the cranberry/berry molds..OMG good...and the okra, the mac and cheese, and corn casserole, and the rolls...pretty much I loved it all! It was a nice day spent talking and having fun and eating! After lunch we all laid around in the living room and talked some more. We had to leave early to go home to get ready for Nweds! I will add some pics tomorrow to show you all the fun!

Today was a SUPER scary morning because I got a phone call from Greg telling me about Katie passing out in her classroom and being taken to the hospital...I think I dressed Karis in about 5 secs and we were out the door! Luckily, after lots of tests and even more prayers, she is doing well and at home for the rest of the week...and blogging. I told her that that was no way to get out of work! If teaching is THAT bad, I'll reconsider! But we were all very worried and are very thankful she is doing better! I am off to bed and looking forward to another sleepless night with a crying puppy! Sorry for the lack of pics =)

HERE ARE SOME PICS

See ya tomorrow with pics of the Glawson Thanksgiving!

Please welcome...

Day 15

SAMPSON THOMAS GLAWSON (Sam)!!!

This is our new addition to our family!! We now have TWO baby boys =) He is another mini schnauzer but will prolly be a little smaller than Jack, but hopefully just as sweet! We love him and Jack seems to be doing well with him so far! We look forward to everyone meeting him =)

"Do NOT sniff me!"

Meet the Harts...

Day 14

Gracie and Josiah

Kristin

These are the other other kids I nanny for. Josiah is 8, Gracie 5, and Kristin 10 months. I've definitely gotten LOTS of experience keeping up with 3 kids (especially this summer)!! Grocery shopping, homework, to and from school, getting 3 kids ready to be somewhere on time...not always easy but fun! I just LOVE doing what I do...I'm going to be kind of sad when I start my actual career...but happy at the same time =) But anyway...just thought you'd like to meet them.

Sisterly Love

Happy Baby!

....not so happy baby (she's teething)!

Being thankful...

Day 13

With it being near Thanksgiving and all it seems so appropriate to start thinking about all of the things you should be thankful for. However, it is not the upcoming holiday that has placed this on my heart but rather the past few sermons at church and just events going on in our economy and our community. Lately, our sermons have been about being "content" with life and having "godly discontentment" meaning that nothing else should matter to you besides God. I'm really working on that. But the being content part really got to me. Our pastor was giving examples such as if you're single you want to be married, once you are married you want kids, once you have kids you want to be empty nesters and have grandchildren...etc etc. And I think everyone feel this way to some extent...whether you have a job but are looking forward to a promotion or finding something else, you have a kid but are looking forward to the next...so on. And not saying that you can't or that you are not "supposed" to look forward to those things, we should just learn to stop and appreciate what we already have. So many things have happened to friends, family, and perfect strangers that have made me stop and think and then thank God for blessing Greg and I the way that He has. For example, we were planning on working at the soup kitchen on Thanksgiving but there were not any volunteer spots left, so instead we are going to contribute a lot to the food drive at our church. While I was checking out at the grocery store, the person bagging the groceries asked why I was getting so much macaroni and cheese and canned goods...I told him about the food drive we were contributing to and the cashier stop scanning the next item and said very sincerely, "Thank you so much! You have no idea how much you are helping...my husband has been out of work for a while and I have been in and out the hospital with health problems and we've had to rely on our church's food drive to provide for my family." This really made me think, you never know who's life your going to affect by just helping out a little. And then it made be think some more about how I needed to be content with my life because God has given me so much...a WONDERFUL husband, a fantastic family, a job, the opportunity to get a college education, and SOO much more! But anyhoo...just thought I'd share...now I am going to bed! And PS- ONE CLASS DOWN WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!

Only words...

Day 12

No pictures today! I took a few of Karis eating a sucker which was really cute...and then really disgusting when her face and hands got nasty sticky! We went to have lunch with a friend from high school. I had such a good time catching up with her! We really seem to be in the same place in life right now and it's really good to catch up with someone I used to be so close with AND her and her fiance only live about five minutes from us AND they are going to come to Nweds with us this Sunday...SWEET!!! We love new couple friends =) Tomorrow I have a final which I am ecstatic about because I am glad to have one class finished with! It also shows the signs of the end of the semester which is AWESOME! If you've read my darling hubby's blog then I am sure you already know the tunnel vision has begun...LORD HELP US =) For those of you who do not know about the tunnel vision, it is when Greg gets his mind wrapped around something so intently until it comes true, so basically, once the idea sparks, it'll happen within a month or so...we'll see on this one!!! So I am off to chat with him about a "furry friend for Jackson" and watch America's Next Top Model...Enjoy the rest of your night =)

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Oh, the drama...

Day 11

I don't know about you, but I LOVE Fall TV!! Thank heaven for DVR or else I would never get to watch my shows and MAN do I enjoy them. Tonight was the new 90210, talk about drama! Greg can't stand watching it because of all the twists it takes (but he of course wants a recap of the show later) so I have to watch it by myself...along with Gossip Girl(my favorite) and America's Next Top Model (well...he will watch this occasionally). But these are what I enjoy watching in my few moments of down time! But as I was watching tonight's episode..it dawned on me; no wonder kids are maturing so much faster and are so much more knowledgeable about things so early on! These shows portray high school students living like 21+ year-olds (drinking...at bars!...sex with random people, drugs, always on their own...)! If kids in elementary school are watching these (which I am SURE they are) no WONDER they think they need to start smoking and drinking and partying...it's all they see on TV! But anyhoo...I should be writing a paper right now...I have procrastinated to the very last minute...as usual. I am living on a prayer this semester! I hope and pray that I make decent grades, but I honestly do not know! I never worry about my grades because I generally do very well...but this semester is definitely iffy! I am SOOO ready to be DONE with school! Especially with this semester! I've already ordered some new leisure books for me to read on my winter break (it's the only time I have to read books other than school stuff) and I can't wait to just be able to relax for a few weeks! I'll still be working of course, but it's still better than having school too! Well, I guess I will keep on keepin on with my paper...wish me luck =)

Monday, November 10, 2008

Something is better than nothing...

Day 10

I MUST post but unfortunately I am extremely busy with writing papers right now...finals are fast approaching! But today was filled with Karis, school, and more Karis and Laney! Now I am just looking forward to getting done with schoolwork so I can go to bed! See you tomorrow =)

Just around the corner...

Day 9

It's holiday season...well, almost!!! I can't believe it's already here. Greg's family is starting a new tradition this year by celebrating Thanksgiving with just the 7 of us which will start next weekend, then my family has Thanksgiving the week after that (the weekend before turkey day) so we can accomodate everyone's schedules, then we have the big annual Thanksgiving meal at Greg's cousin's house with all the extended family...that's a LOT of turkey folks! 3 weeks of Thanksgiving meals...I hope we can fit in our house by Christmas =) THEN we get to decorate for Christmas for the first time in our house! THEN it's CHRISTMAS TIME!!! I LOOOVE the whole season! The carols, the smells of Christmas, the meaning of it, the sense of compassion and community it brings to people...I just love it! But anyhoo...just sharing my thoughts on that!

We had a great time with my parents being here! It was good to just spend time with them and not have to be planning anything...just visit and play guitar hero and watch movies and cook =) We took them to our church today and were really excited about showing them the place that has made such an impact on our lives. The sermon was AMAZING and I'm glad they got to share in a service with us! After church we went to a yummy lunch at Olive Garden...MMmm! I haven't been back since I stopped working there so it was good seeing everyone and eating the de-lish salad!!! I FINALLY got all of my thank you notes finished today and am now going to get started on some school work...story of my life! I am SOOOO ready for this semester to be OVER!! Only a few more weeks =)

Just in time...

Day 8

Well, I was about to run out of time in the day to blog...but I WILL post everyday during NaBloPoMo!! My parents got here last night and we all woke up this morning and went separate ways. I went to go pickup Karis, Greg went to work, Jackson went to Petsmart for a haircut and my parents went to Rome to get some things from the old house! While everyone was away, Karis and I ran a few errands then she helped me do some chores around the house! She LOVES unloading the dishwasher and was eager to help...who would pass that up?! After her nap Greg and my parents got back shortly after and we all went to lunch at The Varsity. Karis LOVED spending so much time with Greg! She kept asking for him when he was gone and once he was there she just wanted to be with him and kept saying "silly Greg, I want Greg" in the back seat...toooo cute! And of course Greg ate it up... and I did too! I just love to see those two together =) After I took Karis home this evening we all ate a yummy dinner of chicken alouette, homemade mac and cheese, and caesar salad, followed by brownies and icecream for dessert! MMmm!! After dinner we all played Guitar Hero World tour (Greg and Dad on guitars, Me on vocals, Mom on drums)! Now we're watching Iron Man! We've had a great time with my parents here and look forward to taking them to our church tomorrow and to lunch at the OG...oh the memories =) Here are a few pics from today!

On our way to take Jack to get his haircut!
