Woooah we're halfway there....

How Far Along: 20 weeks (5 Months)

Size of baby: a canteloup=)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Let's just say...more than I should =)

Maternity Clothes: Are amazing. And I will wear them after the baby is born with no shame because I don't know if I can ever go back to buttoning a pair of pants...these are just too dang comfortable.

Gender: Sweet baby girl!!!!!

Movement: I've been feeling her every day now which is exciting! If I want to feel her move, I put headphones on my belly and play music and she starts dancing...which is why she still has the nickname "Tiny dancer"

What I miss: lately I have just really missed coffee and all it's deliciousness.

Sleep: It could be better, it could be worse...but I'm enjoying the sleep I do get!

Symptoms: Not too many lately. Just a backache, stuffy nose, and the occasional round ligament pain.

Cravings: Still fruit and italian food. And of course shaved ice, which I am craving right now!

Best Moment this week: Registering for the baby and having a weekend at home with Greg!

What we are looking forward to: Decorating the nursery!!! I seriously have so many crafts and ideas...I can't wait to get started!

Just a good day...

This weekend my parents are supposed to be in town, but sadly my mom has been sick so they weren't able to make the trip. However, our weekend has still been fun! Friday we went to Babies-R-Us to register, which was lots of fun, but exhausting!! Since my parents were coming, we were planning on a big meal and Greg was going to use the Big Green Egg for the first time, so when we found out they weren't coming, we thought we were stuck with a huge brisket! But he decided to make it anyway and I'm so glad he did...it was delicious! He got up at 1am to put in on the smoker, then got up every 2 hours to check on it! I told him this was good practice for the Fall =) While he stayed home and tended the meat, I went shopping with my best friend Jill at the Dawsonville Outlets. I brought home lots of goodies, but I of course couldn't resist picking up a few things for Caroline! My thoughts are...if I'm having a girl, she's basically a real-life baby doll so I will dress her up all the time, so the more clothes the merrier! PLUS with deals this good, I simply cannot pass them up! Now let's just hope she's in the 6-9 month clothes range next Spring/Summer =)
After an afternoon of shopping, I was pooped! I came home to find a clean house and sweet man to take the credit! I took a nap because I'm lazy, and simply love sleeping and then came downstairs to keep Greg company while he finished up our amazing dinner. The brisket turned out wonderfully, the twice baked potatoes from Leah's blog were phenomenal, and the grilled veggies were delicious too! I have to say, Greg has done a lot more cooking lately and I've certainly enjoyed it... the scale proves it =) Super super Saturday if I do say so myself!

Father's Day,,,

After our exciting breakfast we went went back to the house for Greg to open his gifts from me. I had a girl and boy outfit ready to give him that both said "I Love Daddy," so when we got in I put away the boy outfit before he opened it up. However, the big surprise was in the back of my car. Greg as been wanting a Big Green Egg for several months now, so I totally surprised him by going ahead and getting one =) He is THRILLED!!!
After our gift opening, we went over to Cindy and Thomas' for some lunch! Cindy and their neighbor Alice cooked an awesome meal and after we all completely stuffed ourselves we went swimming over at the Plantz house. However, before swimming the men opened their gifts. This was how we revealed the gender to everyone. So, we put two girly outfits in a bag and Thomas first pulled out the purple and brown and no one seemed to get it was a girl at first, until he pulled out the pink and then everyone got it =) Greg got a new Green Egg Cookbook, golf balls, and some cute daddy books. Fun, fun day!!
It was so much fun celebrating all the dads, but I had the most fun celebrating the daddy-to-be! Greg is seriously going to be an absolutely amazing dad. Caroline is one very, very lucky little girl!!

We are...

And couldn't be more excited about it!!! We had our ultrasound on Thursday and were literally counting down the seconds until the appointment (even though we weren't finding out that day, we were excited to see our baby again and to at least know if we were going to be able to find out what we were having). The ultrasound tech took a ton of pictures and about 30 minutes into it she says, "well, maybe be should have you lay on your side and see if we can get the baby to move it's head out of the way." So I rolled over...no such luck. Then I rolled to the other side...again, no special shot to show us what we were having. I was getting so nervous that we weren't going to be able to find out, so finally I stood up, shook a bit, and laid back down and FINALLY the tech asked us to turn our heads and close our eyes so she could take the picture! We were SO excited that we could hold the envelope of what we were having. Luckily, we kept busy all weekend so that it wouldn't be killing us not to open it, and finally Sunday came. Greg and I got ready for breakfast at J. Christopher's and could not stop smiling the whole way there and through breakfast. Since it was Father's Day, Greg got to open the envelope, so as soon as we ordered he rip on open! He stared at it a second, teared up and said "Wow, that's crazy! What did you think it was going to be?" He finally turned the picture around and said, "Well, you're right! It's a girl!!" We were/are ECSTATIC!! We have felt like the baby was a girl this whole pregnancy and have always wanted a girl first. Don't get me wrong, we would have been equally thrilled with a baby boy, but this was just amazing! After breakfast we called lots of family and then went to Greg's parents' house to share the news with them too! Fun, exciting day that we will never forget!!

Gender Wives Tales...

Tomorrow is the big day!!! I can't wait and I'm already losing sleep over it! We are SO excited! Before we find out I went through a list of wives tales just for fun to see what they say! So before I reveal the list, here is a picture I took this week. Excuse the wet hair/no make-up look =)

18.5 weeks
#1: Heart Rate: If the baby’s heart rate is above 140 bpm, it is said that the baby will be a girl. If it is under 140 bpm, then it will be a boy.
-Well, at our first appointment that HR was 173, the next it was 160, and now it is 142...so we will see, but according to this, GIRL

#2: Shape of Belly: If you are carrying high with a big, round belly, you are having a girl. If you are carrying low with a smaller belly that sticks straight out, it’s a boy.
-I feel like I'm carrying pretty low, so I would say BOY on this one.

#3: Ring Test: Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your pregnant belly. You are having a girl if the ring swings back and forth and it’s a boy if it swings in a circle.
-First of all, I've read different things for this one, some say circle is a girl. I've also gotten different results each time lol, but I just did it and it was a circle, so BOY.

#4: Mayan Tale: The Mayan tale adds the mothers age at conception and the year of conception. If the result is a even number then mom is having a girl. If the result is an odd number then a boy is on the way!
-Yet again, this could be either. WE are not 100% sure when this occurred and there is about a week's difference which makes a difference in my age, but I THINK that it was already after my birthday so that makes 23+2011= 2034 which is even, so GIRL.

#5: Cravings: People believe that if you are craving salty foods while pregnant, you can count on having a boy. If you crave sweets, fruit, and orange juice, you are having a little girl.
-Considering I eat my weight in fruit every day and must have a glass of orange juice when I get up in the morning and I've probably eaten more Sweetarts in the past few months than I have in my life...I'm going to say GIRL.

#6: Dream of Sex of Baby: If you have dreams that you are having a boy, you will have a girl. If you dream about having a girl, it will be a boy. Dreams show the opposite of what you are having.
- Well, every dream I have had has been a girl...so, BOY.

#7: Side You Most Rest On: If a pregnant woman prefers to lay on her left side, she’s having a boy. If she prefers resting on her right side, she’s having a girl.
-I try to sleep on my left side because it's suppose to be better for the baby, but I always end up on my right...GIRL.

#8: Morning Sickness: If you had a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it’s a boy. If you were sick or felt really nauseous during your pregnancy, count on a girl.
-I would say I've had it pretty easy, but I did have some morning sickness and threw up quite a few times, so I suppose GIRL.

#9: Nose: Do you feel like your nose is growing and getting wider? If so, you might be having a boy.
-I don't think it has...now if this was butt, it'd be a different story, so GIRL.

and last but not least, supposedly the most "accurate"...
#10: Chinese Gender Chart: The Chinese Gender Chart claims to have an accuracy rate of over 90%. It is based on how old the mother is at conception and the month that she conceived. - If you do this like you're "suppose to" with your lunar age...it says GIRL.

I, of course, am not putting any real confidence into any of these, but they are fun to see! The totals are:

BOY: 3
GIRL: 7

Either way we will be SO thrilled with our son or daughter, and just cannot wait to find out in the morning =)

WordY Wednesday...

Because I've become an exceptionally lazy photographer, instead of wordless, this will be wordy and pictureless. Just a few random thoughts that are probably not even blog worthy, but I feel like a slacker for not blogging. So you get what you get...

  • As I sit and listen to the monsoon outside and the ridiculous thunder, I am thinking about how vastly different I would have reacted to this storm last year. I don't know if it's the pregnancy that's messed with the chemicals in my brain or what...but it's as if I'm a normal person again, not some psycho crying in the bathroom floor because it's raining really hard (true story).
  • I had one of my scariest nanny moments today when one of my 10-month-old sweeties decided that he would have some sort of many seizure on my watch and stop breathing and have his mouth turn blue...that was a heart attack for me!! But, we both made it through!!! I am pretty sure that I did not take my eyes off of him for one second for the last 2 hours I was there.
  • Today was the first day where I truly felt like I looked pregnant and not just extra pudgy...the belly is actually looking like a preggo belly and not a beer gut!
  • Everyday I realize more and more how many times I will probably have to eat my words on all of the "I will never..."s!! But until that day comes, I will continue to pretend like my child will be absolutely perfect because of what an incredibly awesome mom I will be...HAH! Let's not kid ourselves...there are no perfect kids or parents, but by golly I will try =)
  • Every single day this week (month, year, etc) I have thought about how incredibly blessed I am to have Greg as a husband, but thinking about him as a father literally melts my heart and I CANNOT wait to have kids with him!
  • And last but not least...I have probably thought about our ultrasound and finding out what we are having on Sunday at least every second of every day this week! To say we are excited is a bit of an understatement!! AHHH can't wait!!

Great Date Weekend...

We've had such a wonderful weekend together =) Very rarely are we plan-free two weekends in a row!! But man have we enjoyed it!! Friday night we started our weekend off with dinner at Rafferty's and going to see Hangover 2. It was so funny, but we didn't think it was as good as the first. We love going on dinner and movie dates together because it reminds us so much of our actual dating years, Greg even asked if I wanted him to drive me to Rome just for memory sake haha. People keep saying "enjoy the dates now, because you won't have time when you have kids..."Well I've got news for those people, WE WILL MAKE TIME! Will the dates be as frequent or as elaborate? Maybe, maybe not, but it is SO important to us to take time just for US. Our marriage will always come first, and date nights and weekends away are the some of the best ways to maintain that unity. Anyway...off that soapbox. It just kills me when people say that lol. Anyhoo...Saturday we had a super fun date too! Our local park hosts free outdoor movies in the summer, so we packed up a delicious picnic and the pups, and headed over to watch one of our favorite movies, "Despicable Me." We got there SUPER early, because I remember how crowded it got last year, but we were there a good 3 hours before the movie started! We did get a great spot though =) After we left though, I was glad of our early arrival because it was PACKED! So, for the first 3 hours we just enjoyed each other's company and ate our yummy (not so healthy) picnic. We picked up chicken plates from Publix and brought along some fruit and s'mores bars that Greg made. The dogs enjoyed being out and about, but got a bit nervous when the crowd started growing. Once the sun went down the weather was so nice! It was such a neat way to spend a summer night and we will definitely be doing this again!!

The happy pups
Our basket of goodies
Chance =)
Finally the movie starts!
