Just a little update...

I'm pretty much just updating because I feel like I should. However, nothing too exciting to blog about. We have lots of projects going on with finishing up the nursery and such, so that has kept us very busy. Oh, and when I say us I mean Greg =) In the past week he has..
  • painted the room
  • painted and put up another shelf in her closet (which I DESPERATELY wish I had before/after pics of, because it looks a TON better)
  • sanded the dresser/changing table to get it ready to paint
  • bought and cut the shelves for the display book case and the shelf above the changing table
That's been a busy boy! Don't worry, I haven't been just kickin it on the couch eating bon-bons, I've been crafting and sewing and cleaning =) I feel like the two are equal don't you? We also went to the big consignment sale at the fairgrounds this weeks and got a few good deals, which is always fun! We also ordered the crib yesterday and I cannot wait for it to get here! With all of this baby stuff laying around and the room being painted, it's really making things seem so real! I start to get into panic mode when I think how I'll be full term in 12 weeks and only 15 weeks away from my due date. I know everything will get done, but we are basically running out of weekends to work! Our next 2-3 months are crazy busy with family in town, traveling, showers, and such. All fun things, but keeping us busy nonetheless. Anyhoo...here are a couple of pictures of Greg working in the nursery...
Hooray it is painted!
He's cute =)

**I have to brag a bit and say how much I love that Greg does all this with a smile on his face =) Even though it's lots of work, he loves getting things ready for our baby girl and we will just go in there and sit and talk about how awesome it will be when she is here in a few short months! He's a sweet, sweet man and will be such an amazing daddy!

A few days off...

Because my nanny families had their families in town, I had today and yesterday off. While I should have taken that time to get some much needed cleaning done, I figured I would do some sewing instead...it's much more fun =) So here are a few things I've made the past couple of days...

1) The "Bapron (baby apron)/Bib- I love this bib because it will cover so much of the baby and it ties so it's harder for them to pull off. This was also my first attempt at making my own and sewing with bias tape. I have a few more of these cut out, just waiting to work up the motivation to make more bias tape. I used this tutorial to make the bib.

2) Pacifier Clip- I'm sure I'll be making more of these! I used this tutorial for the clip.
This is how it will look with a paci attached

3) Burp Cloths- I LOVE these! They are SUPER easy and SUPER soft! I will be making quite a few more =) Here is where I found the tutorial (although I'm pretty sure Leah makes some like these too)
4) Last, but not least, a minky baby blanket! I was VERY hesitant to sew minky because 1) I wasn't sure if my sewing machine would handle it and 2) everywhere I had read said it was such a huge pain to work with. However, I'm glad I tried it because this was super easy to make and I love how soft it is! Again, here is the tutorial for this....

I have to give a shout-out to Pinterest which is my new favorite website that I spend way too much time on! That is where I found all of these great tutorials and all the yummy recipes we've been trying lately! I LOVE it!!

Katie's Totally Rad 80's Party...

Group Shot
Saturday night we stepped back into the past by celebrating Katie's 30th birthday, 80's style! We had such a fun time picking out our tacky awesome outfits! Thank you Goodwill for having some goodies for us =) It was so funny seeing everyone dressed up! And let me tell you...there were some amazing outfits haha! The party was a ton of fun! We ate some yummy food, played Katie/80's Trivia (which we were one of the winners...no real thanks to me who spent roughly 2 years in the 80s), and listened/danced/sang to some oldies but goodies 80's hits! Unfortunately, I started feeling pretty rough during the party and after getting sick a few times (the bummer part is I wasn't even drinking lol), we decided to go ahead and head home. Katie looked fantastic and I hope she had a super fun time at her party! It was a blast for sure!
All ready to go!
The best part is, he had to go into a store dressed like this to buy the head and wrist bands!
Brother/Sister 80's style
Saunders-If only you could see the awesome mullet/rat-tail he was rockin
A little 80's serenade from Katie, Tara, and Heather
Cindy and Thomas looking awesome
And one of my favorite pictures of the night...Greg with the mullet wig! So funny!

6 months...

How Far Along: 24 weeks (6 Months)

Size of baby: a papaya=)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Let's just say...more than I should =) HOWEVER, I did not gain anything over the past month so hooray for that!

Maternity Clothes: Still in them and unfortunately, some are already getting a bit snug.

Gender: Sweet baby girl!!!!!

Movement: Every day! She's pretty active at night, which I hope she doesn't continue when she's here =)

What I miss: Coffee, my wedding rings that my fingers are too swollen to wear anymore, and not getting out of breath from pretty much everything.

Sleep: It could be better, it could be worse...but I'm enjoying the sleep I do get!

Symptoms: Nothing too bad. However, I am VERY ready for this cold/cough/sinus crap to go away! And the swelling has started- imagine that...only 100+ degrees outside!

Cravings: Fruit and cold cereal (specifically the ones that aren't good for you)

Best Moment this week: Our date on Friday night to the Cheesecake Factory and a movie and of course, getting the nursery painted!! I can't wait to see it all finished!

What we are looking forward to: Finishing up the nursery (still a little ways to go). Getting a few more crafts finished (more bibs, burp cloths, paci clips, nursing cover, etc). Also, going to the huge consignment sale this week!!

Getting some work done...

This weekend we had LOTS of help getting one step (or a lot of steps) closer to having our nursery ready! Since Caroline's room is replacing our guest bedroom, the original plan was to move the bed, bookcase, nightstand and a few other odds and ends into storage until we are ready to move. However, with the way the housing market is looking there is really no telling when that day will come, so we decided this week that we would try rearranging our office so that we could fit the bed in there and maybe build a desk into the little alcove where our treadmill was. Well, today that idea became a reality! Greg and Thomas got everything done and it looks great! We are so happy we decided to do this rather than pay for storage every month for who knows how long! Plus, we are able to still have a guest bedroom even with the nursery, which we are so happy about (and I'm sure my parents will be too).
Nook before...
Nook after...
Office before (with a few things in disarray since we already started the moving around)...
Office/Guest bedroom makeover =)...Chance decided to jump in the pic
The pups think this was all done for them. Lazy.

On top of all the fun stuff with the office and everything getting moved out of the guest bedroom, while the men worked, Cindy and I went to pick up the recliner for the nursery. I LOVE it!! It is SUPER comfy and I cannot wait to rock a sweet baby girl in there =)
Having everything moved out definitely makes things seem more real! We still have quite a bit of work with painting and decorating, but we are well on our way to having a finished room for Caroline! Can't wait to see it all finished!! A super big thanks for all the help from Cindy and Thomas!

You know my love of a bargain...

And boy did I rack up today!! This morning Greg and I went to Once Upon a Child which is a children's consignment shop. They were having their grab bag sale where you buy a bag (plastic grocery bag) for $20 and stuff as many clearance items into it you can. It was primarily just spring/summer wear, but I am more than ok with that because I don't think I'll have many hand-me-downs that will work in the size range I will need for next season, SO I loaded up on some cute 9-12 month clothes for Caroline. I also got several pairs of jeans that are 0-3 months, so that will work for the beginning. What's so awesome is that almost every item of clothing is a name-brand AND some clothes still had the original tag on them, so I feel like I TRULY got a steal of a deal! All of the jeans are baby Gap and Children's Place, so for what I would pay for one pair of jeans, I got SO much stuff! Greg was on bag stuffing duty, so he sat in the corner and rolled the clothes to fit more in the bag. Once we took it up to the counter we realized we could've gotten a few more things in, but I was happy with what we had. Here are some pictures of our loot...
6 pair of shoes...
6 Dresses...
9 shirts
5 pairs of jeans
5 shorts, 1 skort, and a shirt I left out from the other pic
When we went to check out our total was $154.71 and we only paid $20 for it all! I would LOOVE to see the overall savings from the retail prices! Just from the two Carter's shirts with the tag still on one was $10 and one was $12, so we paid less than just those two shirts!! Crazy =)

Last weekend we headed to Seacrest Beach, Fl for our annual Glawson/Jones beach vacation. We all got up bright and early to meet at the beach around lunchtime and the timing worked perfectly because we all pulled about about the same time and enjoyed a yummy lunch together at a local restaurant, George's. This was our third year visiting Seacrest and it's so nice going back to such a beautiful place each year! After lunch was changed into our swimsuits and hit the pool for a while to cool off and unwind from the drive. We kept the rest of the day pretty low key and just hung out, unpacked, and cooked out. Sunday the guys woke up super early to go golfing and the girls spent the day relaxing at the house and playing games. Sunday night we went out to a pretty famous local spot called The Red Bar. It was delicious! We got there just in time to beat the crazy crowd which was really nice too! Monday we spent the morning at the beach. Unfortunately, there was a ton of seaweed in the ocean this year, so there wasn't really any swimming going on but we had fun just reading and playing in the sand and watching SJ figure out what was going on. That evening Greg made a delicious meal for everyone of grilled poppyseed chicken, grilled summer veggies, and twice baked potatoes. I completed the meal by making a fresh blueberry cobbler. After stuffing ourselves we sat around chatting and waiting for the fireworks to start. We had an awesome view this year from the 3rd floor deck, which was really nice. The next day was another golfing day for the men and a shopping day for the girls and SJ. The shops in Rosemary beach are so cute and fun to look around in. After the guys got back, Greg and I went for a swim and then we all got ready for dinner at La Cocina which is a really good Mexican restaurant near us. We ate our delicious dinner then all changed into our white and khaki outfits for some family pictures on the beach. Sadly, this was our last night at beach but we had such a wonderful vacation with everyone!! It's so nice to get away and be able to relax! However, we kept reminding ourselves how very different this beach trip will be for us next year with an 8-month-old! We can't wait =)
