Rainy Night in Georgia...

This is for all of you NC folk out there...enjoy...

Bells Ferry

Right before you get on 575

This is the road behind KSU that I take to get the the parking deck...

Saying it's been raining is a gross understatement! It has been POURING!!! All schools are closed (most closed today and almost everything is closed tomorrow as well), roads are blocked, commute times that normally take 15-20 min are taking around 5hrs....it's crazy. This morning I was home and heard lightening stike something and then a very loud clap of thunder, I checked around our house to make sure it wasn't us that was hit. I didn't see anything and the rain was starting to slack up, so I decided I would make an attempt to go get our dogs from cartersville. On the way out of the neighborhood I noticed several fire trucks and realized that a house down the street from us had been hit by lightening and had caught on fire! Only about a fourth of their house wasn't charred or completely gone. A little less than half way to Cville the bottom let out and I was caught in a monsoon! Luckily I was very close to Walmart so I waited there...for about an hour and a half...all the while having multiple panic attacks of course lol! I did not continue on to Cville, I headed straight back home and saw that the roads were starting to flood...yikes! It was very scary and I was terrified about Greg driving back home from work and my MIL being out in it all day!! Watching everything on the news is like some kind of crazy movie! My heart breaks for all the families whose houses are flooded and damaged...because there are a TON! I am SO thankful we are both home safe and sound!! I pray tomorrow is better!!

The Retreat...

This weekend was our marriage retreat weekend with our NWEDS group in Gatlinburg, TN. Needless to say, it was AWESOME, just as expected! We are glad we got to go, however, my uncle passed away on Thursday night and we got a call saying the service was going to be on Sunday at 5pm. Sooo...Greg did not want us to miss the retreat or the service so we got up and ate breakfast with everyone on Sunday and then head to NC for the funeral, stayed for about 2 hours, and then headed home! We got home at about 2:30am... LOOOONG day/night!!! Back to the retreat...we had such a great time with everyone! We all got in pretty late on Friday, Greg and I got there around 11:30pm and there were several that came after us. We had about 10 couples this year so it was a nice sized group! On Saturday we woke up early to cook breakfast with the Mays...breakfast casseroles, chocolate chip and blueberry muffins, cinnamon rolls, and lots of fruit, yum! Similar to last year, we watched a DVD series called "Laugh Your Way To a Better Marriage" by Pastor Mark Gungor (last year we watched iMarriage...equally as awesome). We highly recommend this video to anyone (newlywed or not). It gave some fantastic advice and conversation starters for us. After our first two video sessions of the retreat, we all showered and headed to town together to shop around before the rain hit. It was SOO hard staying away from all the yummy fudge and candies...but I stuck to the diet all weekend! Once it started to rain we headed back to the house for dinner and another session and then we split into guys/girls groups and discussed the video and all kinds of things. It was pretty cool because every single wife there is a teacher, so it was really interesting for me to hear all of what's going on with them at home and in the classroom. We woke up early Sunday and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast with everyone and then we hit the road and headed to NC. All the driving made for a long day but it we enjoyed having all that time together and we alos enjoyed seeing my family (despite the circumstances). Here a few pics from the weekend...

Our yummy breakfast

The wives in town (a few aren't pictured...they were out shopping)

The hubsbands (again...missing a few that are with their wives)

I loved all the fall scenes set up around town!!

Don't let the face fool you...

He may look sweet and innocent...

But you have no idea what he is capable of...

"I didn't do it"

**And this is only ONE toy....we find piles like this daily***

For about the past 2 or 3 months Chance has gotten into a stage where he eats all of his toys...literally...they are gone if we don't catch it fast enough! Over the past month we have gone through COUNTLESS toys, new and old, and we were down to just two and now after the above picture was taken...we are down to one toy, and he's hanging on by a thread. I would love to have an x-ray of Chance to see how much cotton is in his tiny body! We have tried to solve the issue and buy toys that we think he can't destroy, such as ridiculously thick rubber bones...that he chews in half the eats the tiny pieces, rope toys with tennis balls...that his gnaws in half and then eats the ball, rawhides are gone in a few short hours...there is no hope. However, I would MUCH rather him take out his aggression and chewing habits on his toys rather than the furniture or shoes...but it is sad that he is punishing Jack because he doesn't have any toys now either...sad. Anyway...if anyone know of any indestructible toys out there...let us know!!

Two for Two...

Two treats for two special boys =)

Of course we had to get our babies something at the Yellow Daisy Festival!! So homemade, natural ingredient dog treats is was!! And they couldn't have been happier!!!

Yesterday Cindy, Thomas, and Katie Anne came with us to the Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain. We had a GREAT time! I LOOOVE arts and crafts festivals and got inspired by SO many wonderful ideas...that are SO easy to recreate! We walked around and saw just about everything but this was seriously one of the biggest shows I've ever been to! It was HUGE! For lunch we all chose our own lunch choice and then found a shady spot to eat together. Katie Anne did wonderfully and we were so glad she was able to come...she's just so much fun! Plus when she comes to things with us, this is what I get to see...

Yeah...these don't make me want kids at all...PSssh!! Yeah right =) So cute!!!

We had a great day! Thanks for coming C & T!

A great way to start the day...

Well, I went about a day feeling back to normal and like my old self, and then Friday the crud came back with a vengeance! Yes...I am sick...AGAIN! And I am sick and tired of being sick and tired =) I've been to the doctor twice and both times they've said it's just an upper respiratory infection but SHEESH...this is going on my 3rd week of being sick...BOOO! Anyhoo, today I am taking it easy! And by that I mean that I am doing absolutely. nothing. I am going to lay in bed and watch movies and sleep all day! And I am hoping that getting some extra rest will help be kick whatever this is! To start this day of laziness, my sweet hubby surprised me by making my favorite breakfast...grilled cheese =) He makes the best and it was SOO yummy!! He was been taking such good care of me by making breakfast, bringing me medicine (you know....just the cold med. cocktail I've been taking for a couple of weeks now), keeping my OJ cup full, and making sure I am in bed at a decent time to get plenty of rest =) I am one lucky woman to have someone who loves me so much! But the feeling is more than mutual =)

Making my favorite grilled cheese!

MMmm so good! (ignore the no make-up morning face and hair lol)

Thanks love for putting up with the endless coughing, sniffles, and laziness =)

Yesterday we went to Cville to pick up our niece and hang out with her for the day! We had such a great time! We went to a bounce place near our house called Jumptoons and spent about an hour or so there before heading to our house to make dinner. When we got to the house we made pizza together...it was SOO good! Katie Anne did a great job putting all the toppings on! After dinner, we watched Kung Fu Panda...we had intended on watching "Up" but it wasn't in...so Greg brought home Kung Fu Panda instead. She stayed pretty interested and once she started to show signs of being bored, we paused the movie and went to make bear cookies (which didn't turn out looking too much like bears lol...they REALLY flattened out int he oven)! She loved decorating them and then of course the best part...getting to eat them! We finished up the movie and then it was time for a bath! After a bath time we got her all ready for bed and then took her back home! We had such a fun time with her and loved singing songs ALLLL the way back to her house =)

Thank you Katie and Saunders for letting us take her for the evening =)

***A funny side story...on our way to Jumptoons Katie Anne was being so silly and growling and squealing and making all kinds of funny noises and saying she was different animals and then would bust out into hysterical laughing...so Greg said, "You are a nut kid!" and KA laughed so hard and said, "No I not a nut! I Katie Anne Joooones!!" we laughed SOO hard!! It was HILARIOUS the way she said it!
