This weekend we went to NC to celebrate Halloween and my mom's 50th birthday (just a few weeks late). After sitting in Atlanta traffic for almost 3 hours...we finally made it to Cary by about 1am. I got to wake up early and play with baby James and Eva so 3.5/4 hours of sleep was enough =) Since it was Halloween they wore all different kinds of costumes throughout the day, which was very fun to see! They are both changing and growing so much! We all went to lunch at the Carolina Ale House and watched NC State/Fla. State game, which was yummy and fun because the whole wait staff was dressed up as well! After hanging out for a while, me and Greg went with my parents to Burlington to stay the night at my grandmother's house. We had my mom's birthday dinner (ham, potato salad, faye's beans, apricot bake, rolls, and homemade sweet potato pie...MMMMMmmm) and after dinner we went outside to watch the annual Halloween fireworks from City Park. We had a few trick-or-treaters but not a ton...the dogs were of course dressed up =) After visiting for a while, we headed to bed because the next day was the big surprise!

On Sunday me and Greg told my parents that we were going to go to church with my grandmother, while we actually went to go set up for her surprise party! I CANNOT BELIEVE this stayed a secret. Andy and Kari and the babies met us at the building to help set up and to drop off the cake that Andy made (over 10 POUNDS OF CHOCOLATE were in this cake). She had thought that we were having a birthday lunch at a restaurant in town and we were all going to "meet at the restaurant." SO when they pulled up and walked in...SURPRISE! My mom's family and close friends were there to greet her at the door. We missed a few people but still had a good crowd (20 +kids)! I was so happy we all pulled it off! There was great food, great music (despite the small crisis...I couldn't find the CD's we brought...thank goodness for Greg's iPhone), and great fun! There was also a scrapbooking table set up for people to make pages to add to the book we made for her, so that was fun too! It was a good time and I hope she enjoyed her 50th birthday celebration! We love you mom!
